As the Senior Councillor for Prestbury I take very seriously making progress with the smaller issues which local residents bring to my attention in addition to my responsibilities to our Town as a whole. Here are just a few of the day to day matters I have been dealing with recently: Priors Rd resurfacing – at long last we managed to persuade the County Council of the importance of this work being done on this major road approaching Prestbury. The…
PAB was sorry to note the closure of the Hilltop stores local shop (corner of Hilltop Rd / Tommy Taylors Lane ) on 1st June. Pradeep has been serving the local community for many many years not least all the way through Covid times. He will be missed and we wish him and his family well.
Glebe Road – Within 48 hours of the recent election PAB Councillor, Stan Smith, was again out and about dealing with residents concerns. He has now made several visits to Glebe Rd to discuss residents concerns about flooding. He called in the local Inspector whose initial investigation could not get to the root of the problem so a full drainage investigation has been ordered. Priors Road – After extensive efforts by PAB Councillors Smith and Bassett- Smith, working with County…
Many congratulations to Stan Smith for winning the Prestbury local election & and topping the poll with 928 votes. Stan and the PAB management committee would like to express their sincere thanks to all our loyal PAB members for their fantastic support & in particular those who were able to vote to elect Stan. Also thanks go to all our volunteers who helped with delivering the election leaflets. The full election results can be found at the Cheltenham Council website…
Reasons why voting for Stan Smith & PAB Group on 2 May is a sensible choice. – PAB are your free thinking, local Independent Party with their only loyalty to Prestbury residents not some remote mainstream party. – Stan Smith, the PAB candidate for the forthcoming Prestbury Local Election is an actual long standing resident of the Prestbury Ward as declared on the Ballot form. Half of the other six Prestbury candidates, all from the mainstream parties, have declared their…
Well, six months on, thank you for your support. Being your Councillor and working hard for the Ward has been a real privilege. I hope that on the 2nd May, you will vote for me and PAB once again. Just a reminder you have up to two votes as, unusually, we are electing a full Council this time. It is just me standing for PAB and to be clear you don’t have to use your second vote, your vote for…
Well, here we are, sorry for the delay in putting this blog out. Over the last few weeks I have spent a lot of time in meetings, mostly concerned with Planning Reviews and Prestbury’s Idsall Drive Car Park. Just a note before I start though – PAB has been getting a lot of stick in the initial Election leaflets from the Green Party. Some of which appears to be based on outdated information and some on unclear facts. PAB members…
PAB members and local residents attended the Cheltenham Borough Council (CBC) Offices yesterday (18 March) to follow the debate concerning the petition to ask CBC to reconsider the sale of the car park. Despite vigorous contributions from PAB Councillor Stan Smith and colleague opposition Councillors, the motion to review was heavily defeated by the Liberal Democrat majority. We were surprised to hear during the meeting that the sale had ALREADY been agreed and in fact contracts have been signed, despite…
18-March-24 Update from the PAB Councillor Stan Smith After feedback from a local resident about the encroachment of bushes between Laxton Meadows & Shaw Green Lane causing pedestrians to walk on the road, Councillor Stan Smith raised the issue with the Highways department. However, there has been a delay to resolving the problem. After further intervention from Stan, Gloucestershire highways have added this activity to their emergency plan [reference: 11452593] On Albert Road near the junction with Pittville Lawn there…
